Who can take part and what are the key conditions of the licence?1. Your licence is for school productions only. This means primary schools through to secondary schools and sixth form colleges but not drama or performing arts schools. How much does it cost?Acquiring your official Schools Will Rock You licence will cost you £120 and this will entitle you to stage 7 performances of the show over an 18 month period. What do i receive for my licence fee?The licence package includes the PVG score (piano vocal and guitar) and the script, plus a username and password giving you access to a premium area of this website. The premium section will offer you expert advice from the creative team of WWRY plus extra support from our SWRY consultant to help you stage the best show possible. You will also be able to download and customise our SWRY posters, tickets and flyers. Is there a backing track available?Yes, we have developed a variety of purely optional additional items that can be purchased to help build your WWRY vibe, including: I don't think the original script is suitable for my school, is there an alternative version?Yes, Ben Elton has written a separate version of the script that has been deemed more suitable for an under 11s audience. When you purchase your licence you will automatically receive both versions of the script. Don't forget you can always adapt the script to make it more personal to your school. Where can i buy tickets to We Will Rock You?Tickets to the show at the Dominion Theatre in London can be purchased by clicking HERE or by calling Ticketmaster on 0870 169 0116 Can my school stage their performance in a local theatre or hall?Unfortunately not. All performances by an educational establishment must take place on their own premises. This rule will apply to all licences issued from 2008 onwards. Can more than one school stage the show in the same region?Yes, there are no restrictions to the location of the performing schools but you must perform on your own premises I have purchased a licence but have not received it or another of the other downloads. Where are they?All payments must be authorised before we can send out the welcome email containing the licence, script, score and username/password. This can take up to 72 hours to arrive. If it should take longer than this, please email us at backstage@schoolswillrockyou.com. Can we charge for tickets to see our show?Yes you can, however we must emphasise that the licence is made available to you on the condition that all money raised must only be used to cover the cost of the production. If a clear profit is raised after all costs are taken care of you must re-invest that money into departement that originally funded the show. You could also make a donation to the AIDS awareness charity set up in the name of Freddie Mercury - www.mercuryphoenixtrust.com Do you have a high res version of the SWRY logo for use in a publication?You can download the promotional material once you have bought your licence. Please note, you may not use any of the official We Will Rock You logos from the official show. We reserve the right to prohibit promotional material that is deemed to resemble the official We Will Rock You show. If you are in any doubt, please contact info@schoolswillrockyou.com BEFORE you send your designs to print. There have been occasions when we have had to restrict certain designs due to copyright infringement. What tracks are used in the show?Act One Can I put on a performance outside of the UK?All licences purchased from www.schoolswillrockyou.com after 1 January 2007 MUST be performed in the UK. Obviously licences purchased from the German and Spanish sites can be performed in those countries. This rule also applies to British schools outside of the UK. Can I pay by cheque?If you have been approved for a licence you are allowed to pay by cheque. Please send your cheque for £120, made payable to 'Queen Theatrical Productions' to: Jamie Vickery SWRY c/o Outside Line, Unit 160, 2nd Floor,Exmouth House, 3-11 Pine Street, London, EC1R 0JH Dont forget to include your name, school name, address and telephone. Please note, if your school or organisation requires us to issue an invoice upfront of purchase then you will only be able to pay by cheque and not online. Is there an age limit for performers?All of the performers and musicians in your production must be aged 18 or under and attend your school or otherwise they must be teachers at your school. Your production must not include any professionals. You will receive downloads for 2 different scripts: one is the unedited west end version, the second script has been re-adapted for use with younger children. What is the show meant to be called?Everyone is putting on a performance of 'We Will Rock You', however the West End logo may not be used. All promotional material must include the following words at the top: [NAME OF SCHOOL]'s amateur production of: We Will Rock You www.schoolswillrockyou.com Can I see a sample of the script?Due to copyright we cannot release a large chunk of script, but you can see one scene HERE What is the plot of the musical?(Note that in different productions of We Will Rock You the story and songs are changed slightly to better reach the target audiences.)
Are band parts available?Yes, we now have the full orchestral band score available to everyone who has purchased a licence This kindly being donated to us by Robert Russell and he has requested that if anyone uses this in their production that they make a donation to the Mercury Phoenix Trust to show your appreciation.
